All a bit crazy how he went from footballing megastar to dwindling to an early retirement in Qatar or Saudi or wherever the heck Al Rayyan is.
I bet he could have joined one of many top teams, probably much better and bigger teams than us, when Madrid made him available for the knockdown price we ended up paying, even if his wages were huge.
I guess money was the biggest motivator for him after all, which you can't really knock him for if somebody is going to throw £300k a week at you with almost no expectation that you'll catapult their club to success.
