Credit to Albania here, they’ve pressed hard all game, restricting England to just the two. They’ll pick up points in this group playing this way but they’ll need to test the keeper, don’t think Pope has had to make a save of note

In a group containing San Marino it should be nailed on that they pick up points.

I understand the mentality of playing for a draw, but once they went behind they were content to take the loss. Pitch looked heavy, grass was long. I can't see any credit in it for them.

A lot of the Pope lovers all no surprise want Pope in goal, not that i care one bit about England/International football etc unless our players play, but they forget Pope has not had a save to make in 2 games and whatever else he had to do the other 4, but his 6 clean sheets in his 6 games have been v Costa Rica, Kosovo, Wales, Ireland, San Marino, and Albania

*he's only faced about 8 shots* those 6 games

Don't trust Pope under a press at all for England, just boots it anywhere

Good thing they both play tons of club games to boost the sample size.

The distribution thing with Pope is a fair enough argument but on the form of the last two seasons Pickford is at best the third best shot stopped England have available for selection. That would be where I hang my hat but that is not how the modern managers act.

Agreed, watching yesterday made me realise Pickford will be straight back in the side when fit.
