Confirmed Signing Alex Iwobi

Do people understand what expected goals and expected assists mean?

If the end output doesn't somewhat tally with a high xG and xA then it means he has no end product. It means he was 'expected' to assist and score but didn't.

It reinforces the criticism of him.

If he somehow fixes that end product then, yes, he'd be tremendous, but it's a big bloody ask!

He probably sign a new contract after we went balls deep on Zaha, with Iwobi as the other alternative. He probably left it as late as possible before realising we are not pursuing interest. I think Neres is higher up in our list but for whatever reason it fail to happen.

Brands history with PSV and Feyenoord is also potentially disruptive in doing business with Ajax. Neres stated after the Copa that he was staying put, anyway.

Who define the expected expectation and base on what? It could be highly subjective to be even considered a fact.

if you take a look at the stats you should be giving matches he started. it says 25-30 matches but he only started few of them he was a sub had little time to assist goal

Arsenal fan here, not on to troll but be constructive. I am also not going to mention the transfer fee, that is a matter between the clubs.

In general Arsenal fans are happy Iwobi is leaving, it allows Reiss Nelson to have some game time this season after a very impressive loan spell in Germany. My issue with Iwobi is his application, you guys might remember him bursting onto the scene a few years back when he scored in a league game at Goodison. We were all raving about him being the next big attacking thing, he was very direct shooting on sight and looking a composed finisher almost David Rocastle like.

Well in the time between that game and us selling him yesterday, he has shown to be lacking in temperament and technical ability. Emery liked using him as an impact sub last season, coming on injecting a bit of pace especially at home when the away team parked the bus. His deficiencies were clear to be seen, poor final ball, inability to put the ball into dangerous areas from wide starting positions and looking like a headless chicken when things opened up for him to shoot on goal.

For me, Iwobi is an upgrade on Theo, but nowhere near the quality, someone like Zaha would offer you guys. Given the money, you have these days with Moshiri and his pal Usmanov wanting to invest, I am surprised you didn't go all out to get Zaha. That would have been a statement of intent to break into the top 6.

Oh don’t start with the xG and xA chat, spoken by utter wham merchants incapable of using their own eyes to judge a footballer, fifa gimps, virgins and those who only watch on telly and wear a full kit to do so.

But surely with an assist, you have no control over whether the person you've passed to scores? The assist is the end product.

He's got the pace and skills but lacks end product too often. A bit like Lookman and Deulofeu but with more Premiership minutes under his belt. If he can kick on like Del has at Watford all good, if not?

This is the key really. 2 of the areas we lacked last year were pace and creating chances. These stats say he brings assists, and I already knew he had pace. The other issue was our finishing. He certainly doesn't solve that issue, but hopefully Kean will help on that score.

Exactly, it's a load of complete nonsense. The stats don't matter - you can see with your eyes what the player does.

But if people are going to use such stats, they should at least understand the picture it paints.

Del hasn't kicked on at Watford, he had about 5 good games, like he used to for us.

No, they say he should have assisted, but didn't. Because his end product is lacking.
