Agreed (he is our only goalscorer in the past 4 games) however most would be fuming if he brought on Iwobi ahead of Gray. On paper that move makes sense.
The stop in momentum killed us when Townsend went off. Same as the Wolves game where Hwang kept being weird with his injury. It doesn't take much to knock us off our game at all. If an opponent can weather our "press" for 10-15 mins they are fine.
This is totally correct
@Papa Shango, weather the opening onslaught and play tight. Once the initial press has been repelled and Everton have not scored then the opposition begin to control. Lets face it, taking the game from our, far too often two, in mid-field is relatively easy.
This tells me that this is the message the team is set out to do. Sure, Frank has them fired up, but it really is too much to expect any team to control the game with only two men in the middle of the park.
So Frank has them set up, plan A fails, no plan B to fall back on. We really must be the easiest team to set up against as, it appears, all other coaches can second guess or tactics. Any disruption, or a bit of pressing and we fall into a pattern of sideways/backwards passing often resulting in corner or a free kick. The kryptonite of Everton F.C.
The team proved it under Carlo. Empty stadia away and these players are fine. Empty at home where expectancy is higher, and it is back into their shells time.
Ergo, the best solution is a rocking Goodison. Get to the end of the season in the Premier, as I believe we will, and then have a massive physical, actual and mental re-vamp of attitudes, and a total sort out of coaching staff.
Volley some from the board room would also lift spirits. Too many 'whispers in the corridors' by far too many, ahem, familiar faces throughout the club.
