ALEX YOUNG RIP

RIP
The Golden Vision
My Everton supporting "career" had just begun, while Alex's playing career for Everton was coming to an end.
Nevertheless, he was a massive hero for me, as were all on that team, but he stood out, not just because of his golden locks, but because he just oozed class. He had a natural talent and made it look so easy that, as a kid kicking a ball around, you just imagined yourself playing the same way as him, dreaming you were in that team, how hard could it be? Of course, I found out pretty quickly that it was very hard, I had no talent in playing football. But, it makes you wonder how many kids with more talent then me, inspired by him, went on to become professionals.
It was a great loss when he left Everton, and an even greater loss now that he has left this world.
He will never be forgotten, not by Evertonians. If only they had the video's and tight analysis then as they do now, then maybe more would realize the world class talent that was Alex Young!
RIP

One of Everton's greatest I was far to young to remember him but my dad adores him.
Even up to the late 90's he was talked about regularly and seems to have gone under the radar recently. By the club

Yes sad news, another one of the Everton sixties crew gone. they'll nearly have enough for a team up there now. RIP.

Just rang my old man. He's in absolute bits. Asked me to ring back tomorrow as he couldn't talk about it now. Only saw him like that once before and that was when HK passed away. A measure of the esteem in which he's held.

RIP Alex

The glorious 1960's, are now officially over.

I was lucky enough to see Alex play, and he epitomized to many of us, what is to be Everton.

We romanticized Alex, but it was not misplaced, as he was a genuine legend.

RIP 'The Golden Vision'.

I have watched the blues since 1950 and once had the privilege to play at Goodison Park in 1954 in a schoolboy cup final and in all those years Alex Young was in my opinion the best player we ever had, I met the great man once and as well as a great footballer he really was a true gentleman, very sadly missed, rest in peace Alex

A sad day. He was one of those names that first drew me to Everton, as a kid there was something magical about a club who had had " Dixie Deans" was the " School of Science" and had a player called " The Golden Vision" . RIP.
