all you buggers whingeing about lack of investment..

Invest is the magic word isn't it. Sadly to most football fans it seems to mean "give us a shed load without expecting any of it back, there's a good chap", whereas to most businessmen they will expect to make a profit on any investment they make. Do you think people rushing to buy clubs at the same time as a record tv deal being announced is a coincidence?

More than one way to skin a cat, the global advertising possibilities in the new dawn of football will see some interesting business done - for example (lay terms) - bill gates could buy a club and then pay himself to advertise microsoft on the shirts and in the stands.

The fact that the prem is the global league now will only intensify interest and increase pricing throughout.

(side note: The coming season sees TV revenue surpass a clubs gate takings for a season - this is the first time this has happened - couple that with the likes of arsenal who sell out their corporate boxes for a total that surpasses the gate receipts for a season and suddenly the fans in the stands arent the 'big fish' anymore.)

Id like to know more about the 'chang' deal and the clauses due to european exposure through uefa.

Id like to know if the new kirkby stadium that is allegedly going to be 55k seater - does that 55k include corporate?

(side note: I know a man ure fan thats 'in with' some business men, they have business/corporate seats at old trafford - but they only go to 'big games' which means this person i know gets the opportunity to go and sit in their specs at good prices when they dont use the tickets - im glad he gets to go and it doesnt cost him quite so much - but is this practice good for the game? to me its elitist and is an indication that the more affluent fans would be willing to pay and actually turn up to a 'super league' of sorts - where every game is a 'glamour game')

Anyway, back to money, we have some, we will spend some, and im glad moyes wont pay big-time money for small-time players like koumas.

Lets see who stays, lets see who goes (beattie? mcfadden? naysmith already gone) and lets see who gets brought in because i say again - I personally guarantee moyes will make more signings this summer.

I guarantee it as well because he simply has to.

17 outfield players that have played in the top flight is not a realsitic squad to compete in the FA Cup, League Cup, Uefa Cup and the Premier League.

Looking like one signing and a couple of loans.

sack the league cup off - its a waste of time and effort. its a [Poor language removed] egg cup and i hold absolutley no regard for it, in fact, utter disdain for it.

the FA cup kicks off after christmas, by then we will have an idea of how we are getting along and will know our uefa fate and january allows players to be brought in.

League is paramount, we have to finish in the uefa places again at least, next may. second to league is uefa, lets give it a shot, and raise our profile (as well as our euro ranking (ipswich and leeds being above us still... hahaha lemons!))

I reckon we need a reserve keeper in case tim gets injured,a speedy midfielder again if arteta gets injured,a versatile defender and a winger whether we buy or get them in on loan.
We are now in a great position we must make sure history doesn,t repeat itself as 2 years ago,and if kenwright is in charge he needs to sort out the finances cos i wonder if moyes one day realises the job he has done with not much cash and then thinks what job he could do somewhere else with financial backing we all get stale and we all need to be challenged.

collina wont be reffing anywhere so 'two years ago' wont come into it.

you points about moyes got me thinking (theres a novelty!) that so long as we maintain our momentum and continue to incrementally improve, the debt WILL get smaller and moyes could write himself into the hall of goodison greats as the man that turned the club round from skint relegation fodder to affluent premierleague contenders.

He will need help though suits he has won me over i think he has done a magnificent job here so far but what next with no money available what should we expect off him he,s a great manager not a magician

Well.. the reserve keeper is Jagielka.
The versatile defender is Jagielka
The speedy midfielder... Would love Fernandes on loan for another season, but I guess I have to settle for Jagielka with a rocketfueled backpack.
Winger... Eh... Kenwright? He has managed to walk the line between getting ousted by giving promises about investments coming into the club that hasn't materialized. :P

     [Poor language removed] GO SUPPORT WIGAN THEY SPEND MONEY

I see people supporting moyes with valid reasons, and I see thoes who criticise him with valid reasons as well. Just because they criticise does not mean they are entitled to be abuse by so call high morale moyes supporters. I begin to see some members trying to brand others with terms like idiots etc. I believe all of us are grown ups with maturity to accept differences with respect. We are not here to force our way of thinking into others, we are here to discuss. If this fundamental forum value and respect cannot be achieve, there's no point to even log in and read anymore.

I disagree with that. Well half disagree. On the one hand we have those that demand signings and are blind to the fact that we have a bloody good team with a solid foundation from back to front.

Its almost like we have to make signings because its pre-season. I don't think there is an awful lot wrong with the team, apart from its possibly a little threadbare, but I would be happy to see that fleshed out with some upcoming players. Vidarsson, Boyle, Kissock etc...

I would rather that happen then us going out spending money because the fans demand it. I don't see many people demanding a striker, why? because we have plenty, and 2 of which are under 20 and have come through the ranks.

Imagine if Man U decided to spend more rather than promote within.

Even if we go out in the first round of every cup, if the squad last season was good enough for 6th place, its good enough again this season, especially as those beneath us are not really doing that much to make me want to panic buy.

Long term future is by far more important than the short term.

I agree that we have a good strong first 11 and some good subs, but I don't think we will finish 6:th in the league even if we go out in all cups at once and focus on the league unless we strengthen the squad. As you said we don't have cover in some areas and with Yobo leaving (and possibly Anichebe as well) for the african cup in January... we will be short on players.

As it is right now I think ManU, Pool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham & Newcastle will finish higher than us and we will be in a close rase with Bolton, Middlesbro & perhaps ManC (who I think can become a nasty surprise if Eriksson can get some funding).

I don't want "panic buys", I just want to know that Moyes will be given a adequate transferkitty so he can strengthen the squad by getting the players that he wants so we can continue forth. If the players he wants chooses other clubs.. then fine. At least we have the money to get them here (if they are stupid enough not to choose to come to this great club it's their loss), but right now it looks like we don't have it.

While I'd love for our youngsters to come forth (Kissock, Boyle etc.) and become stars for us, I don't think we will get that lucky that all of them will fight their way into the first 11 and be able to make a mark in their first regular season. We need both youngsters and some new oldsters.

Well the squad was good enough last season, and I don't see any of the clubs beneath us having much better squads then last season either.

I'm also not saying that these young players are going to break into the first eleven, but as squad players they can be.

man ure, chavski, deR Scheisse, bottenham hot sperm, and the rear gunners i suspect will all finish above us.

newcastle are a club in transition, lets see how dyer, milner, n'zogbia, owen, ramage, and a few of the other tarts adjust to allardyces "blood and thunder" football.

Bolton are on a downer, no allardyce and an aging squad will be lucky to be upper mid table.

boro have lost a few players, and are about to lose a few more, they will tread water happily for the time being in the lower mid table.

city need a clear out, samaras, dabo, mpenza, bianchi, danny mills (hahahaaha) corradi, it will take monumental money to pay all those wasters off then recruit a top class squad. sven might get it right, but definatley not overnight - distin is a big loss to them.

as for the final paragraph, moyes cant say publicly that he has cash or clubs that own players contracts will force the issue and demand over the odds - just like nugent, just like koumas.

You know what, ever since we got trounced by Villa 6-2 I have been hearing from Evertonians that we are going to get relegated, every season up until about 5 years ago, maybe less, in fact the season we finished 4th our own fans were saying we were getting relegated.

Its the doom and gloom that keeps people happy, its in our nature to be miserable and expect the worse. I have to hand it to the American's they are way too positive, but it isn't a bad thing to feel like that.

Would we all be happy with Koumas in the side? Arteta and VDM can play on the wing, (and yes VDM is still a commodity, and he is here.) we have loads of strikers. Cahill is coming back to 100% fitness, something we missed last year. I think anyone we sign now will just be squad players, so it doesn't matter if we sign them now or over the next couple of weeks.

Moyes already knows what his eleven is, probably his first 15. So if all we are after is squad players then what is everyone so concerned about? We have youth on our side, we have a great nucleus at the club. We have a great new academy (anyone have any idea how much that cost?).

Of all the players we have been linked with, I don't think any of them would turn the club around. Moyes is building a team that is solid, and he has just signed two of the most important players up until 2012. He has signed a great goalkeeper on a long term deal. He has a great defender in Lescott, and Yobo is still an Evertonian as far as I know.

He has 6 strikers, including BT and Faddy. This Lukas kid looks as hungry to do well as Victor and Vaughan do. Oh and we still have AJ.

We have three boots and all players in Cars, Neville and Jags. Osman is still here and we have given Da Silva another season.

Boyle is coming back, Valente is still here and Hibbert will hopefully be injury free.

In the wings we have Vidarsson, Kissock, Agard, and even Rodwell apparently was as composed as anyone in the side on Saturday.

Is it really that bad? Or would you prefer to have a 50million pound budget to recklessly over spend on egotistic footballers, who may or may not fit into the squad or the English way of playing. We know the players we have do fit into the English way of playing. There is no loose cannons, everyone wants to do well, for the club. Nobody is overpaid in relation to the likes of Parker and Barton, and [Poor language removed] Richardson.

Just look at the big picture. We may not progress in the Uefa Cup, but as long as we are performing and going in the right direction I am happy and despite all the negativity from some quarters, really looking forward to the coming season.

I know.. that's why I wrote in the paragraph above: "but right now it looks like we don't have it."

I don't say we have a bad squad. The foundation with Howard-Lescott,Yobo-Arteta,Cahill-AJ is by far the best we've had for many years... but it's still vulnerable to injuries. And if we reach the groupstage in the UEFA-Cup that will mean more games that that foundation will fight...

I've not been thrilled with most of the players we've been linked with this summer either. I've never thought highly of Nugent or Koumas, and I don't think they would improve the squad we have. (Fernandes on the other hand I'd like to see for another season, preferably on loan.)

But I think many supporters have been fired up by statements made in the close season and with our relative silence in the transfermarket they are getting restless.

Example

I don't think we need a complete overhaul and get 5-6 players in.. 2-3 more in the right positions would just make me feel better and look forward to the new season with more enthusiasm.

This forum is getting better. I love to see the daggers out.

As usual, Im sitting on the fence. How I feel is somewhere in the middle, Im a fan of Moyes and appreciative of Kenwright. Im easily led you see.

I would like to see a few more signings and I think this happen. I was just disappointed two years ago that we failed to capitalise on our chance to consolodate our position in Europe. Being blues, we half expected it go tits up and so it did.

Do you know what, [Poor language removed] it. Im excited to be a blue as I have been for a long time. If we dont make signings (I think we need a quality signing and two decent players) by the end of August then I will air my displeasure.

Anyway. Carry on.
