Not specific to the title but nature has so many answers for our problems. We are losing so much from acting like idiots in regions with rainforests, the ocean ect. The real issue at present is that we are natures problem.

I am surprised at your lack of belief in alterntive meds. I have been around them all my life and many work extremely well. Acupuncture has been shown to work for millennia as have many herbal treatments. Many of todays western meds are derived from natural products.

Really depends on what alternative meds we are talking about. Homeopathy is clearly flim Flam, but undoubtedly there is a lot of evidence that acupuncture has an effect.

It's quite a fascinating subject re placebo effects. The body through stress and anxiety in particular health anxiety can cause people to start somatizing physical ailments that aren't actually there, so I have no doubt a placebo effect can actually de-stress the body and help real symptoms clear up.

Cannabis/cannabinoids and magic mushrooms/Psilocybin are also interesting examples of 'alternatives' transitioning to sanctioned, or potentially sanctioned, treatments.
