From what little I’ve seen of him he seems to be a genuine defensive midfielder rather than a midfielder who tried to win the ball further up the pitch (which I think Gueye is actually better at than when he plays DM). Seems to spend a lot of time in front of his centrebacks in the centre of the pitch which is where real DMs should be.

You know what, I think he would have been pleasantly surprised by what he seen today.
