Yes I think you're right, and it probably explains the inconsistencies a bit. Also the starting team is quite young. Average age of the playing players last couple of games is under 25, and it shows.

Under Moyes, it wasnt the players were better, but were at least more consistent.

I kind of hope that's what we are getting with Coady, Tarkowski, Gana etc. At least they are consistent.

But why are we considering under 25 as young players? Look at the ages of our 85 title winning team. Aside from Reid, Gray and Southall who were late 20s, everyone else was 20-24 when the season started. Ratcliffe was captain at 23. We shouldn’t be making excuses that 23/24 years olds are too young to be accountable / professional

I'm not suggesting they're young per se mate, more that as an average age, it is quite young.

I mean can you tell me how many foreign players there was in the league in 85? Why does that matter you ask, cos in 85 the team with the best players in the UK won the League, in 2022 the team with the best players in the World win the league.

Very fair point. In some ways it shows how poor we are.

I'm not sure Gana is a classic destroyer though. Its splitting hairs a bit, but to me he is a guy who runs around loads and makes lots of tackles.

That's basically what I mean by it. He's definitely not one to sit in and anticipate what's coming.

Oh I don’t disagree that the league is vastly different now. I just think we need to stop giving any players under 25 a free pass because they are young. Under 21 sure
