And So it begins...

John Stones is set to become one of the hottest Premier League properties of the summer as Chelsea and Manchester City weigh-up big money offers for the defender.

The Everton star has established a reputation as one of England's most talented defenders since arriving at Goodison Park in 2013.

And his performances have not gone unnoticed by the Premier League's elite.

Nowt new about that.

They have been printing stuff like that foe months now.

Chelsea and anyone else who want to try and sign Stones can GTF.

Not worried about this to be honest.

John is a smart lad and knows he's best here for now, where he's a first choice CB playing in a system that suits him very well.

But what Chelsea really need is a player for the left hand side to replace Terry, they already have a good, young CB for the right in Zouma with Ivanovic also able to play there even if they want to replace Cahill.

Stones is very talented but so far as I know he hasn't ever played on the left and the rumours that we are looking for a left sided CB suggest that he might not be that great shifted over, not every CB can make the move especially when they are young. Can see them being interested in him in the future but don't think it will be this summer.

Yep, couldn't see him instigating a move. But if there is an astronomical bid then history tells us the inevitable will happen.

I always feared the vultures would come swooping as a consequence of our poor season. :(

The best thing about this thread is that I knew what this was going to be about (and what player too) just by reading the thread title.

The media are so damn predictable.

Stones strikes me as a very grounded Baines/Coleman type who isn't going to be demanding a move and I severely doubt the club will sell him - especially with Distin & Alcaraz almost certainly both leaving.

You guys can try and bury your heads but they'll be bidding for him in the Summer, nailed on.

I don't think he wants to go, but if they start offering big money, £40m+ then Kenwright can't be trusted.

You also think Gerrard is the best midfielder in PL history mate

Your opinions are as dodgy as Raheem Stirling's camp running style
