No one can be that handsome and be bad at football surely..

That side would get taken to the cleaners week in week out. You need 2 DMs in the Premier League. That's why everyone else has them.

No, you don't.

You can't, however, go with a midfield duo of Gomes and Gylfi, I agree with that.

Gana to be the sweeper and provide the athleticism in front of the defence.

Gomes to provide the deep-lying playmaker role. Gylfi to play that more advanced role where he can create in the final third/get on the end of things.

Fir me it's a good signing, if he rediscovers his Valencia form he will prove to be the signing if the season, if he continues as he's been at Barca then we lost 2m

The context of why he failed is the curious one, as s club pressure wise we are much more Valencia than a Barca, we have s coach who personally stepped in to persuade him and who has form fir getting the most out of players on hard times - see Niasse etc, and also comes across as being someone who players identify with - Richarlison etc......

No option to buy sucks if he does perform, but given he's not gonna ever suceed at Barca realistically if he turns his career around here I bet he'd push for that move given his problems he's had before when moving to Barca.

The no option to buy is frustrating but I look at it like how we had Lukaku. If the lad comes here and does well there will be a big part of him that will want to stay. Barcelona will have a replacement for him once he leaves, so unless they shuffle back it won't be easy to fit him back in. He's already performed well at Valencia, so even if he does with us, it's a big risk. It's unusual for loan players to not stay on at the club (unless they are prima dona's like Mirallas who cause problems wherever they go).

The other issue though, is if he does do well and gets back into Barcelona's team it will do 2 things. Firstly cement a relationship between Barcelona and Everton. They will see us as a reliable option to send players to improve at. Secondly other sides across the continent will sit up and take notice. If they have young players who cannot get a game, or have fallen away a bit, or need toughening up we will be quite high in the cue for them. That will be worth more than any 1 player.

There are times to be strong in negotiations but there are also times to give a little back and keep the person you are negotiating with happy.

Very happy with this signing.

Seems determined to make the most of his move, as well.

He's definitely a good player. Will instantly add that 'playmaker' to the midfield that we've been crying out for.

Gyfli isn't a player that can run a game, whereas Gomes - on his day - definitely can.

I think a midfield three of Gomes-Gana-Gylfi has a good balance.

The main crux is if he can overcome this injury and get fully fit. Hopefully, by the middle of September, he'll be able to do that.

Plus he has been surrounded by brilliant footballers for the last two years, he will have picked something up from keeping such illustrious company.

I genuinely believe that this lad is going to be very good, if not brilliant, for us.

A shrewd signing one might say upon analysing it in the coming months.

Seems to be the one type of midfielder that we haven't had since Arteta. Happy to be a little deeper and dictate without having to burst forwrad, but at the same time has the ability to get forward, beat a man with strength and passes the ball well.

What I would give for a pre-injury Arteta right now. Still think his intelligence on the ball was underrated and has never been replaced.

Never even come to close to replacing him ability wise. Our most intelligent CM since the departure of Arteta was Barry and he was bloody ancient.

Barry was and will always be one of the most bizzare-ly brilliant signings in my 20+ years of going the match.

Nobody wanted it.
Nobody understood why.
Everybody proven wrong after what, 10 games?
