I don’t know fans get on players backs before they have even kicked a ball for us
We don’t deserve nice things
Everton fans are dead weird sometimes. Getting on the backs of a player every week. Right now it's Coleman and Gylfi. Next week it will move to someone else even if we win. Hopefully it won't happen for at least a few games with Gomes but I wouldn't bet on it. He either starts well or gets it.

Still a few weeks away.

Still be sayin that come March 2019. There’s no doubt we had to take him of Reals books as part of the Jerry Mina deal.

Mina, Bernard and Gomes.

To sign one player whom is unable to start for more than a month and counting is unfortunate.

To sign three looks like panic.

But Mina wasn't injured when we put the bid in (pre-World Cup). We only signed him on deadline day because Barca were waiting for other offers. Brands told us this. By then he had a niggle but in any event, he hadn't had a pre-season.

Bernard wasn't injured when we bought him. He hadn't had a pre-season and didn't go to the World Cup. He got injured at Bournemouth in his first game back.

So we are left with Gomes.

Applying your words:

"To sign one player whom is unable to start for more than a month and counting is unfortunate."

So we are just unfortunate, right?

Well we couldn't sign them next month could we?

I think it's the opposite of panicking. Getting the right players but being willing to wait on them gaining full fitness rather than just taking whoever is able to play straight away.

Not based on what you say.

You are telling me that due to a combination of niggles, lack of pre seaon and an injury picked up during a whole five minutes of game time at Bournemouth (probably due to the fact Bernard is totally not fit due to aforementioned lack of a pre season) we are still bereft of three of our major summer signings halfway through September and no apparent or imminent date when they will be ship shape and ready for action.

You might call it “unfortunate”.

You might call it a curse which seems to have afflicted us on the eve of every new season since Barclay was crocked in training two days before the 2014/15 season.

Or even “Everton that” when all else fails

But to me it is a not totally unforseeable crisis when a club signs players with question marks over their availability in the there and then.

We have been down this road before.....with a certain Per Kroldup :pint2:

And Andrei Kanchelskis....

No, I think Andre hit the ground running, Papa.

In fact I am certain he lined up versus Saints a few days after we signed him in August ‘95.

I remember going that game and being real excited by the thoughts of Andre on one wing and wee Anders Limpar on the other

Oh to have players of that calibre running our wings today ;)

Walcott is better than Limpar and Rico is better than Andre.

Think you've been reading too many of Gwladys's posts Khal. It get's to you in the end.:)

Take a chill pill and see what happens over the next couple of weeks. Wouldn't be surprised if all 3 are starting games by the time the next international break comes around in October.

I am as chilled as can be, Barney :)

(worryingly so as I find things Everton no longer send me into a funk the way they used to :()

But the fact you are happy enough kicking this disappointing situation another month down the line adds to my feeling of unease about the fitness of these new fellows and if we will get the best out of them.

All’s I can say is a combination of their continued unavailability, the way the last two games have panned out and this latest and accursed international break have served to take away the momentum we felt was building up a month ago.
