Mate I could not understand the love in at Swansea for him and I don't here, he plays in a position that basically ruins the team if he doesn't perform and I personally don't think he is that good of a player to build a side around.

That's fair enough, I don't disagree with you that at the moment it isn't working.

I don't think the answer has to be taking Gylfi out, because at the end of the day he's our best creative player and our leading scorer. But a change in system is definitely needed and, if Gylfi doesn't fit, then so be it.

At the moment, I'd say Gomes needs dropping more, but only because he doesn't offer that moment of quality in the final third that Gylfi does, whether that's a pass or a shot. Neither are playing well enough to demand a place at the moment, though.

Did we not come mid table twice with Lukaku?

Lukaku is a great striker, he has also won nothing in his career bar the Belgian league probably because he is not a great team player.

Not saying that's the case either by the way but I have mentioned before that there can often be a trade off between goals and the good of the team as a whole.

Honestly just don't see how considering he's also created most of our chances as well, along with Digne.

He's been poor recently and I, even as one of his biggest fans on here, will admit that the system isn't getting the best out of him and at the same time seems to be geared to try and do that, to an extent, although we do play mostly down the wings...

But if we do change the system, there's still a place for him - if he ups his game - because he simply offers more in the final third than any of our other players bar Richarlison at the moment.

Anyway, as this is the Gomes thread, I'd say he's crucial to our form as well. Since he's tailed off, so have we. I think he's got a knock, but he's also not playing well. I'm hopeful he'll come good again, but he's a problem atm, because all of our play from deep goes through him.
 

Honestly cannot believe some of the utter humps on here? This lad has everything we need in our midfield (except so far, goals), and he is now going through a dip in form along with everybody else in the team and now he is crap and a fraud? Some of you give me piles sometimes you really do!

The major problems are that we seem to be stuck in a playing system that has been sussed out and Silva seems unable to come up with an alternative playing style to mix things up and that we are devoid of any leadership in the team.
