Because Morgan has made the defensive side more solid perhaps. 3-0 away win and draw with one of the top two. Can't argue with that. The Manager makes the decision on opposition and form. He has got that right exept for Walcott in the last two.

He hasn’t really.

Had Salah tucked that chance away it would have been 100% the fault of Morgan,whom set the chance up with a careless pass backwards when near the halfway line.

And Morgan allowed Matip to just stroll past him, in slo mo, when the latter went in that “mazy run” from which the RS squandered another presentable chance.

Picking carthorses like Morgan over thoroughbreds like Gomez will keep us among the also rans in perpetuity.

Gomes must start against Newcastle. If it was a kick up the arse he was being given, surely he gets that now. Schneiderlin has been in midfield for two consecutive clean sheets, and he performed to a decent standard, yet he did nearly cost us a goal against Liverpool. Gomes is the superior player and if we have aspirations to sign him then he needs to be shown he's a starter for us. Gomes and Gueye as the midfield two, as it should remain.

Siggy, Gomes, Gueye, Schniederlin.. play them as a human centipede (in that order) down the middle of the park. As is often said on this forum, can't be much worse than what we have now
