No 40 million player. Half that amount and he is worth signing and even then he would not be a guaranteed starter if we really are ever going to push the top 4.

For such a big man he isn't that strong or commanding on the pitch.
He is, however, a very good footballer and when he plays well he helps the team have a nice tempo.

I think we need to accept that we probably need about six central midfielders who are rotated on a regular basis to keep them fresh for every game in which they are picked to start.
I think we saw a dip in the form of Gomes because he had to play too many matches one after the other.
Certainly a big asset to the team, a very good signing, albeit a loan signing... but, for some reason I am not convinced he will be at Everton or even in the premiership next season.
I think he may prefer a league where the game is played at a slightly slower pace.

Maybe he can have a word with another Barca player low on confidence and getting booed by his own fans,
Imagine the fume and the statement of intent if we managed to get him and coutinho in the Summer (obviously never going to happen like)

For around £20 million its a no brainer.

Agreed, except he won't be sold for that little. As I have posted before, the player does not have the leverage here with a contract until 2021. If he isn't sold at a fee Barcelona are happy with, he'll go on a loan elsewhere or return

28 Million yes and yes
I think his inconsistency this season could work in our favour as regards competition for his signature and his valuation. But we've seen enough to know he has genuine quality and if we can get him for circa £25m then it's a no brainer from me. Let's be honest, we're not exactly an automatic preferred destination for players of his quality, and certainly not at that price.

I think his large dip in performances have affected his value tbh. Had he kept on the form that he shown earlier in the year I think Barca would have asked for a hefty fee however when you consider they sold Digne for £18 million and Mina who had a massive WC for £28 million I dont think Gomes will go for a high fee.

I reckon £20-25 million but who knows.
