I honestly don't think it'd be good for anyone except Barcelona if he came out and said he wanted to stay.

As far as they're concerned if he hasn't shown he wants to stay desperately and we aren't desperate to keep him that'll keep all the fees at a minimum.

If Marco was gushing every week about how much we need to keep him and Gomes kept saying he wanted to stay Barca could drive the price up because they know we'd pay it and I wonder if Gomes saying things would do him much good, I'm not sure how something like a loyalty bonus or something like that could be effected.
Hope you're right. He's great to watch and would be a huge loss if we can't get the deal done at the end of the season and he goes elsewhere.

Not sure why this is so hard to understand that he is not the only variable in a transfer, there are 3 parties for a deal to be done. If other clubs are willing to pay more then that will impact the outcome

Mate I think we all know that. If you look very very carefully at what I said and take your time to digest then you may see that I believe if the choice was down to Gomes then I think he would choose us for the reasons I said.

Well, he's not going to have that option. He won't be a key player for them.
If they want him, he'll join them. If it's between us and them, we lose out.

Let hope our board is being savvy and trying to get this sorted before his head is turned.

Sorry, but why exactly? He's settled here. Comfortable. He's got a head coach that speaks Portuguese. He's already been in a much bigger club than Spurs and didn't enjoy his time. Maybe Spurs will qualify for the CL. Maybe not. But I'm not sure Spurs has the cash to make too many moves.

Who would he play ahead of? Alli? Nope. Eriksen? Nope. Dier? Nope, he's not a 6. Sissoko? Moura? Son? No sure where he plays. Does he really want to sit on the bench?

Most foreign players would rather play for a Champions League club in London (with the best stadium in the county and a great future ahead of them) over 9th place Everton in Liverpool.

I hope he stays. He would be a fantastic signing. But can't argue if he ditches us for a better club.

Sure they would, but this guy is here on loan and happy. Why would he stay at all in England? He'd probably rather play in Rome or Milan, too. He'd stay here because he's comfortable.

We gave him a warm welcome when he first came, but he owes us nothing, there is no allegiance to us, and if another team came in for him who are a perennial Champions league team, and win trophies, then him feeling welcome and wanted here by the fans isn’t going to make him say to himself “Champions league and trophies or feeling wanted?” At the end of the day just because he had a bad experience with Barca doesn’t mean that’s going to be the case outside of us.

Would love him to stay like, absolutely quality.
