Lets put some p[perspective,Tyrone Mings is going for £26m We got a Euro Winner and top tier midfielder for £22m in todays market, we got a great deal.
Mings isn't really a fair comparison considering you have to take into account the English premium
What with the home grown rule, and the fact you can possibly sell for even more, you're always going to pay more for an English player if you sell them domestically
The fee for an English player is rarely representative of their playing ability
So are we saying he was good value or not?
Gomes was good value and Mings could be good value (All depends on whether he does well there)
They could probably get a lot more from selling Mings in a couple of years if he does well than we will make from Gomes if he does well
So he was good value but you didn't appreciate my comparison, sorry, I'll be sure to do a brexit calculation for homegrown players next time
Oh I've been very open about the fact that I felt we got a good deal on Gomes
My point was more that comparing him to another teams transfer doesn't really work because you have to take mitigating factors into consideration
Gomes' value to Everton doesn't really have anything to do with Tyrone Mings' value to Aston Villa. Players go for different fees for a whole list of different reasons, and just because 22 million for Gomes represents good value for us doesn't mean that 26 million for Mings does not represent value to them
