Deserves time to get himself back fully fit especially seeing as he's come back pretty quickly from that horrendous injury. We can only judge what is in front of our eyes though and on current form he's been poor.
 
There is quality there but the lack of consistency since he's joined has been there for all to see. Will he ever reach Arteta levels for us? I doubt it.

He wasn't that great before the injury. That's the biggest issue.

I know what you mean but coming off the back of such a bad injury I do think it takes extra time to get yourself right both physically and mentally. We've seen top players never be the same after sustaining a bad one.
