I hope Ancelotti can find a way /system that allows Gomes to consistently show his undoubted talent.
If he can ,Gomes can finally become the heart of our team.
Throughout his time with us he has been as inconsistent and at times very poor as the rest of our midfield.
If he doesn’t improve markedly next season he will have to be replaced.

Gomes was off the pace when he came back from that nasty injury last year...

It will take him some time to get back to where he was & this may take a few more months yet...

He was far too slow & was getting caught in the midfield far too often, his passing was wayward & his sharpness was not there...

I hope he does get back to his best but this may take a while yet...

I just wish he does stuff like the Wolves goal more, Why do our midfielders no advance forward and take shots? Why is everything to the side or our CB's? It's not normal.

Good point we need more shots from outside the box, we need more goals from our midfielders...

His inconsistency pre-dates his injury and is the main reason his career stalled badly at Barcelona and by extension the sole reason we were able to acquire his services.
We cannot continue to carry him for much longer if he cannot exhibit his abilities on a regular basis.

I think he had a tendency for inconsistency even prior to the horrible injury though hes done very well to come back as fit as he has. He now needs specialist training from one of them at Finch Farm to sharpen him up as hes very slow on the uptake and dawdles a lot. Id have thought this could have been done during the lay-off... then again, given some of the shocking performances since, you do wonder what they do there apart from wear different coloured bibs and slurp energy drinks

I must have missed his best. Had a couple of ok home games since he has been here. Had 1 very good away game at the RS last season. Still waiting to see his best. Hopefully if we can get 2 very good midfielders in this window Andre may step up to the plate

Was brilliant against Sheffield United the other week to be fair.

Question:

Who did more since Gomes joined on loan...

Him or Sigurdsson ?

They are both brilliant on their day, able to spot passes and so on but what sums it up is that a CM of Sigurdsson and Gomes would put us in danger of losing in every single match. I think Ancelotti will work on a new formation before next season once the newer squad begins to take shape before deadline day.

You know how the pandemic and lockdown has made us lose track of time, and 2019 feels like yesterday?
Selling now we might convince people that Sigurdsson is the superstar of Iceland's world cup campaign, and the top international Spurs no.10....

How much do you think we could possibly obtain for selling either player ruthlessly in the next few weeks?

No I agree but his ankle was facing the wrong way once so gets a free pass which he’s just used up after the restart
Except he was disappointing before the injury, Occasional flashes of ability and a handful of good games is all he’s shown us so far.
Overall he has appeared too slow, pedestrian and woefully inconsistent.
He really has to seize next season from the outset.
