Tactically Carlo got the best out of him last year as a deep lying distributor who took the ball off the defence or the 6 and broke the lines. He's a good passer off both feet but needs time on the ball to knit play. Like a bootleg Moutinho

HOWEVER

• That only works if we're the better side; because
• He was an absolute mincer off the ball then and still is now. Just bundles players over and then complains to the ref. Does my head in; and
• If he's pressed he panics. At fault for their second yesterday.

Impact sub at best when the game has slowed down and we're 3-1 up and need some control (hahahaha)

Yes and a terrible tactic overall by Carlo.
When Gomes plays this role he is too slow, and the team has to move almost defensively in posession.
The play would then be he moves in to use crowd to create uncertainty in a dangerous area, which is where he is most effective
but for all this there is other stuff that is lost with him, mostly the speed, jig and finish.
The tactic leaves the counter open as well. Its a more dangerous tactic for arguable gain.

As many would say, he's not PL. He's just not adapatable to the standard required. As a player.
If he were to get frustrated he would lose it
He's a cool guy.

I only watched the first half, but he seemed to start the game in an advanced role. Highly ineffectively I would say, but it was as if he was being asked to play in the number 10 position.

Need to get shut in Jan because I guarantee there's kids in the u23s who will run around more , can lay off the ball quicker and get stuck in and not look half arsed.

I thought it was really interesting when the TV cameras zoomed in on our bench after our equaliser and everyone was celebrating apart from this substituted div who looked like someone had curled one out in his shoe.
