2023/24 Andre Gomes

Loaned in 2018, signed fully in 2019. 5 years of almost nothing. There's been worse, but not by much. 31 in July. It'll be France or Turkey for one last hurrah. Somewhere sunny to wind down. Will look a world beater for a bit, hasn't had to lift a finger here so is as far from burnt out as can be. Football is a job.

Slowly coming to terms with that period of insane transfers for fee's the club couldn't afford, wasted on wasters, by wasters, to sit on a waste land of a bench and do nothing.

Tried to setup the following in terms of summers but couldn't, so it's managers and associated years now. (the following are failure transfers - of which Gomes is one)

koeman 16/17 - Williams, Bolasie, Schneiderlin, Klaasen, Keane, Rooney, Sigurdsson
allardyce 18 - Walcott, Tosun
Summer 18 & 19 (Silva)... Mina, Gomes, Gbamin, Iwobi (*)
Summer 20 & 21 (Ancelotti)... Allan, Godfrey

*Fulham rescued us on Iwobi but has to be involved, even though others have got a pass by being sold on when failures, Vlasic, Kean, Gray etc...

Want to know where substantial losses incurring the P&S points deduction came from? It's there in all their inglorious splendour. Money spent well is a net positive to the business, money wasted badly affects the business for years into the following time. How the club managed to stitch together so many very very poor expensive transfers is why the clubs on it's arse and there's rumour about the new ground and there's nothing to bring new players in with.

Can almost hear risdale talking... "we lived the dream..."

Good post this mate

I don't think 'nice guy' Son will have helped either.

100% mate that's had an impact on his injury history and amount of games missed. He just comes across as the kind of player who has a niggle and misses a match or 2 whereas other players are available week in week out.

He's been another dreadful signing where we spent big and had next to nothing in return. Another one I'll wave off into the sunset with no hard feelings but delighted someone else will have to foot his weekly wage instead of us.

Edit - I just want to add that no Everton player should be on or close to 100k per week. We simply aren't good enough to paying those type of wages.

He's not an attacking player, but all players need to chip in and he's a player that's quite often, when playing, found himself in very decent positions outside of the box...

4 goals in all competitions for Everton since 2019. 😂

Nice guy, but what a humongous waste of money he's been.

Seeing him sitting in the stands laughing at his team mates a few weeks back wasn't too pleasant. And he now he gets to sit in the stands (or more likely at home) this Saturday and then three weeks off.

Nice work if you can get it.
I thought that at first, but then I saw Alli wasn't there because he was attending London Fashion Week and I appreciated the fact that Gomes was bothering to make a mockery of the club in person.

Grim reading those names and how they ended up.

We have also had a fair bit of awful luck. Gbamin, Bolasie and Tosun injuries basically ended their top flight careers. All of which if they hadnt had those injuries would have had resale value but all left for zero.
