At least if unsy was caretaker manager a few of the likes of Gordon would get a game

No mate we have to give those spots to Tosun and Sigurdsson even though they aren't good enough and are pushing 30
He was in the 20 for the Watford game , but apparently lost out on a bench spot to Tosun.
He has had another good game tonight for the U23s , scoring a first half goal against PSV U23s in a 1-1 draw. One brief extract from the match report is a good summary of his play :
“ Gordon dazzles
Gordon skins the PSV right back, pushes it past the centre-half, whips in a low cross but Simms can’t get on the end of it.
Truth be told, Gordon was not only too fast for the PSV defenders but for his team-mates as well.
He has an impressive change of pace and ability to shift through the gears.”
He’s looking too good for the U23s, but needs game time so maybe training and learning with the first team , playing with the U23s is currently the best option. The other dilemma is where you would play him in the first team as he could play across all three front positions. Ideally playing on the left with Digne supporting him would be his best chance, but of course Richarlison currently has that position.
...Silva has already said it’ll be difficult for Gordon because he’s got real competition for wide position, so that must be where he’ll get his chance. Bernard’s injury and Iwobi’s emergence as a no10 opens the door a little, but the ‘safer’ option will always be to use Sigurdsson and push Iwobi out wide.
Gordon is already training with the first team and we can assume he’s holding his own. He’ll also be staying and travelling with the squad on matchdays, so he should be integrated when the chance comes. Be good to see Silva be brave enough to put him on the bench ahead of some big earners.
Unfortunately eggs Silva won’t give him a try as he does not play the youngsters as proven with Kenny, Gordon, Banigame and even Davies to an extent, as he only played him v West Ham because Schniderlin was injured....Silva has already said it’ll be difficult for Gordon because he’s got real competition for wide position, so that must be where he’ll get his chance. I can understand why a manager who is at risk of losing his job after nearly every game is afraid to risk a young lad in the team. However, it could be that a young lad playing without fear could actually give the team a spark.Hopefully the Norwich game should be when he at least makes the bench.
If that's enough for you to decide he's a player we should be including in our squad going forward that's fine but it isn't enough for me.Didn’t Tosun get any assist on Tuesday?

Basically you are asking should we think short term or long term? I'm going long.Hmm proven pro footballer on the bench whilst the club is in crisis or 18-year old kid we could destroy by playing.
Tough decision.

Jack Grealish was a part of the second worst PL team ever at 19 and is fine. Good enough players will benefit from the minutes. Not sure you’re appreciating the situation and atmosphere the first team are currently in.

Good players are good players. It was toxic for Ross Rom and Stones. They're just good players. Not quite the same mate since Villa were naff for quite a few seasons before his debut. We’re massively underachieving and the atmosphere is toxic for poor player performances.
