Indeed it is, but having grown up in the Roy of the Rovers era a striker for me will always be burly, six foot 2 and able to bash defenders about. He’ll be fine whatever name we call his role.

The crowd will be onside any way. I won’t be unhappy if he doesn’t start, just so long as he gets at least 20 mins game time. If he is able to show just a glimpse of his talent he will be fixed as a squad player in Ancelotti’s mind. My worry would be if he fades away as Ancelotti goes for more experienced players, particularly as the injured return.
