Yes you can, that is what he is doing at FF every day.

A friend of mine was friendly a number of years ago with one of the Leeds Utd first team players.
George Graham was manager at the time, the player described himself as a chess piece in a game.
He knew exactly where he was to be on the pitch at all times, he knew how to react to every situation imaginable and he knew the consequences when he didn't do his job properly.

Football fans have absolutely no concept of what being a professional footballer means or the understanding of the game that is needed and the role each player has to play.

This compounds the difficulty for players when a manager is sacked midway during the season and players have to relearn what is now expected of them.

Young players are brought into training with the first team squad not to make them bigger, faster, more skilful , they are brought in to learn over time what is expected of each player in the position they play. Anthony Gordon is still a young lad with plenty to learn.
And he will not learn all of it if he doesn't play real matches at some level. I mean everything you've said is completely true but he still needs to play some form of 90 minute matches. u23s, loans, occasionally with our first team or whatever. Going two months+ without playing a match is not helpful no matter what training he does.

Good Evening Brian..

OK he may not be 100% ready for the 1st team but I would hazard a guess that he would be more effective than Sloth Siggurdson.
Secondly this sends encouraging signals to the other academy players, Brands talks about presenting a pathway into the 1st team..... Come on Carlo I'm getting cheesed off starting a game with 10 men.

....thats a bit like comparing apples with pears in the current set up. Sigurdsson is playing as more of a conventional CM. He’s clearly out of form but I don’t see Gordon playing in that position.

Playing Gordon would be the same.

Its a pity hes not being tried out on the right...if he could get some time there then it could save us bringing in a right mid...or could replace Walcott.

We had Delph and Schneiderlin to play CM. I just don't see any positive contribution coming from Siggurdson. Surely playing a youngster who at the very least would offer enthusiasm and a surprise element would be an improvement.

Sigurdsson played left midfield yesterday. There's no real justification for that decision imo, as he was ineffective. It probably should have been Bernard and not Gordon but a baffling decision nonetheless. I get trust Carlo and all that, but we had a lot of good attacking play and a proper LM may have pushed us over the top.

...i wonder if it’s because of his stock move. Similar to Coutinho, he regularly comes inside on his right and curls shots into the far corner of the net. You know he’s going to do it, but it’s difficult to stop.

Perhaps but he wont get games ahead of Bernard or Iwobi...or seemingly Sigurdsson now lol

Seems strange to reject the loan move to scotland then not play him.
