I really wasn't sure how good he could be when he first started playing more regularly. Always had the effort but looked a bit raw but now he just looks to take control of every game when we move forward and make things happen and he is pretty much our biggest threat going forward right now, especially with Gray being out.

I agree , I just couldn't see a PL player there at all. As you said , he was always full of energy and determination but just wasn't direct enough . Now he just wants to start something everytime he's on the ball and if he doesn't have the ball , HE WANTS IT .
 

I think he's done it enough now for me to say I was totally wrong about this lad. Always thought he'd end up just another overhyped academy lad that would end up leaving on a free transfer or drop down a level but he's really stepped things up this season and more so since Lampard came in. Unfair to judge a player like him based on Benitez' management style which is what I was doing. Not saying he'll be a world beater or anything like that but he'll be a good player for us for years to come if he can keep it up, has a fantastic attitude which is massive for a player his age.
