2022/23 Anthony Gordon

One way of looking at it is the impact of not selling Gordon. Is he likely to contribute in keeping Everton in the Premier League? Or would trading him for 3 players likely to achieve that? Should Everton get relegated it’s doubtful he’d want to stay and we’d get nowhere near £50m for him (see Dwight McNeil) so there’s your risk.

Chelsea are bidding on him being a £70m player in a few years time, they’re paying for a future projection of Anthony Gordon not what he is now. Say Everton replaced him with 3 players could they generate such a future income, as make his mistake that has to be our model.
I searched this post for 5 minutes trying to find the hidden insult. You did a really good job hiding it this time.

Behind Harry Maguirre at £80m???

When you look at it that way, anything goes, even £50m+

The club dialogue here will be:

1. He's not for sale- he's our academy star and a troo bloo. our fans would never forgive us.

2. Anthony has indicated his desire to play in the CL, and has not yet signed the contract on the table.

3. Reluctantly to protect our asset value we are forced to accept the whopping £50m bid for our wantaway boy (*stifles grin)
Maguirre wrath of god

Well I personally think he's played his last game for us. No way on earth will he be selected if he's still with us come Saturday. He would be absolutely vilified if on the pitch against Forest.
This think has developed a momentum of its own and I don't think there's any way back now.
So best of luck to the lad, I bear him no malice but my faith in the club has plummeted to new depths.

following day- leaked photos of Blue Bill's crocodile tears as he looks at the hallowed turf from the boys pen.

'He was one of ours and he didn't want to stay here forever breaks my heart'

50 million speeds up our FFP cycle and allows us to spend like its next summer - essentially free range, but can't go spending 30m a piece on 5 players

However, does Moshiri open up the cheque book and add his own cash, or are we just going to spend the 50 made off Gordon? Feels like that should weigh heavy on the decision makers, because you need 4 players at least, and 50m isn't going to cover the quality of what we need
I think the general consensus amongst supporters was being happy enough with mid-table this season to give us a platform to improve season on season.
I want Lampard to be given time to process the plans he has slowly but surely. His starting point has been really poor due to previous squanderings and will not be easy.
We are not really in the position currently to entice great players to us so we have to take the slow road and budget our spending. Richie wanted to go and if we didn't let him go then we would maybe fell foul of FFP and be in a worse situation. We are a club that has not got much leverage to get the best players or to keep our best players.
Trust Lampard or not but I hope he is here to stabilise a sinking ship and a couple of hard seasons might just see us eventually do that and set up a spring board to become competitive again.

I think we all have to suck it up and deal with the reality.

We are having to get rid of our better players due to past negligence but in our present situation I think it would be negligent not to sell them
