2022/23 Anthony Gordon

I don't see any reason why Everton would entertain a bid that includes a player if it reduces the fee and paper profit we'd make on selling Gordon. It's in our interests to make as big a paper profit on player sales as possible.

Either way this should put the ‘he’s only 6 and a half why’s everyone expecting him to actually do stuff’ argument to bed. If he stays and we rejected a bid of over £40m or Chelsea come back and spend mega money on him then he’s going to be expected to make that look like a good decision for whichever club he’s at, and not just by fans on a message board.
I do think that's a bit mad like.

I want more from Gordon, but he's also 21 and only in his second full season as a first-team player, after a season when we should never have relied on him as much as we did in the first place.

Someone coming in and bidding massive money doesn't mean his development automatically becomes that of a £50m player does it?

IMO he shouldn't be the guaranteed starter that he is in our team but that isn't his fault - it's down to the people in charge of the club.

Why? Brighton knocked back multiple bids for Cucurella before they got what they wanted.

Why would we be so soft?

They’ll be rejecting it.
Cucurella was wanted across Europe by 3 of the biggest clubs, had an unreal season, Brighton did too and generally they had no reason to sell other than a really good bid.

None of that applies to us. We almost got relegated and have public money problems. We have more negotiating power in this deal than we did for Richy but still we can’t be playing around with fees like this, too much of a risk of them walking away.

For the ones who are prepared to drive him there remember we are stuck with Gray and Mc Neill as our wingers for now. Does not bode well even if we get a loan from them.

Isnt gordon meant to be in talks for a new contract now. Some of the stick this lad gets is unreal. You would think every top team in every top league has a 20 year old dictating and winning games on their own. He is very young and needs time and patience good coaching and support from the fanbase. Its not gordons fault the manager has stuck him up top and expected him to play like a 6ft2 centre forward. His game isnt playing with his back to goal and flicking on aimless goalkicks. He was still our most dangerous attacker at villa whether you like it or not. Keep and invest in more young players for me anyway.

The deal would be structured in a way that all deals are separate anyway regardless. It helps both clubs in those situations to buy and sell independently.

For profit and sustainability it has to be say £50 mill cash for the books then structure other deals later

As fans would we really miss him, he’s come in at a terribly time when we were close to relegation, for me he hasn’t been around long enough for me to miss him in the team
