I'm all for keeping young talent but Newcastle are paying a big premium for unproven potential there. He may become a 60 mil player helping them win stuff, but just as (more?) likely he will go the way of barkley, Rodwell et al and drift away.

I really didn't want to say it, but if you don't re-invest it back into the squad, then that screams getting ready for championship from the board, cashing out on assets while you can type of thing.
