Not someone who will take us forward
Certainly won’t take us backwards though. Depth in a position we have struggled with.

We aren’t in a position to invest big everywhere on the squad. There are always going to be signings like this and in recent years we have got them badly wrong.

This is the right way to get squad fillers in.

This is just one of those weird loan signings like Enner Valencia that so obviously serve no purpose other than to pad the squad out
I can guarantee you that if we hadn’t signed him, we would immediately be engulfed in a winger injury crisis.

Now that he is here, he will be a bit part player helping keep others fresh but people won’t understand or appreciate the impact.

He may do if Gordon gets binned off. They generally don't often work out.

The same thing was said about Gray, we got him for 1.7 million, we'd get at least 20 for him now. Players written off before they kick a ball is an astonishing thing Everton fans tend to do.
I think many were happy with Gray. Hopefully he stays consistent.

It's smells of a signing to help a buddy out. Not what we need.

There are a lot of posts about how we have to give the guy a chance and what not which sure, that's true, we should give him on a personal level a chance to show what he can do for us.

But as far as the business goes we don't need to wait to label this as completely idiotic. It's a position we don't need more players in. It's a position where we risk stunting the growth of our most promising young player by loading up on additional options to limit his minutes. It's a player who has never shown to be anymore than average at this level and who is not at an age where there should be any real expectation for him to get better. And crucially it's a transfer seemingly done by the owner reaching around any of the hopefully knowledgeable football people at the club to do the deal.

I get that everyone wants to wait and see the results before making a judgment. But signing players is about the process. You're going to get some right and some wrong regardless so the key is to have a system that minimizes the bad and amplifies the good. We've shown with this move that once again we are far, far away from the type of business we'll need to do if we have any hope of spending seasons in Europe again. It's really disappointing to see us not learn any lessons and the fact that it comes from the very top with Moshiri makes the situation seem a bit hopeless.
It doesn’t though

I’m not writing the lad off as a player, he’s here now, I hope he does well. My problem is that we have a limited budget and have used some of it on a player who plays in a position where we have, by our standards, reasonable cover.

If money is tight, every last penny of it should have been put towards bringing in the best defensive midfielder and centre back that we could afford, either on loan or as a purchase.

I do think that if you are willing to read the reports in various respected newspapers, they write that when questioned on the purported involvement of Moshiri and Joorabchian in the transfer that Benitez did not deny it but mentioned that he had spoken with and approved the signing.
I think you’re very wrong on this matter.

He said in his presser that it was part of the Digne deal, nothing to do with mosh being had over
Do you lot really believe that agents are in his ear bullying him into take their players against the managers wishes ?

And, what reports exactly?
