There are a lot of posts about how we have to give the guy a chance and what not which sure, that's true, we should give him on a personal level a chance to show what he can do for us.
But as far as the business goes we don't need to wait to label this as completely idiotic. It's a position we don't need more players in. It's a position where we risk stunting the growth of our most promising young player by loading up on additional options to limit his minutes. It's a player who has never shown to be anymore than average at this level and who is not at an age where there should be any real expectation for him to get better. And crucially it's a transfer seemingly done by the owner reaching around any of the hopefully knowledgeable football people at the club to do the deal.
I get that everyone wants to wait and see the results before making a judgment. But signing players is about the process. You're going to get some right and some wrong regardless so the key is to have a system that minimizes the bad and amplifies the good. We've shown with this move that once again we are far, far away from the type of business we'll need to do if we have any hope of spending seasons in Europe again. It's really disappointing to see us not learn any lessons and the fact that it comes from the very top with Moshiri makes the situation seem a bit hopeless.
