Hi, just been doing my dads side of the family tree over the past few months, lots of links to the Everton area, in fact quite a few got married in St Domingos Church. Just a quick one, as I am planning on doing a walking tour of a few sites when I am next in town to some of the places my relatives resided. Most of them seemed to have headed up from Wales in the mid to late 1800's - and settle in the "Scotland" municipal ward. I am taking this is an area around Scottie Road?? Does anyone know what the boundaries of the ward where??. I have quite a few who lived on Snowdon St and a Meadow St and also Watford Road. Watford Road is still standing by the looks of it, but cant find the other two, does anyone know where they used to be?? Cheers in advance for any help. Sign of the times, one of my relatives lived 2 doors down from the Liverpool right back, stones through from the Pit. Wouldnt catch footballers living so close to grounds now!

My grandad was a Tram Driver and used to do the Goodison and 'Pit' Saturday specials (Free Match Entry & overtime). He often would pick up 5/6 fans from a Tram Stop plus the teams Right Back n Centre Half and the next stop another few fans plus the keeper and striker !!

I've got some great pics somewhere of Tommy Lawton on a bus/tram going to the ground for the match - when he was prob the most expensive striker in the land. My dad said in the early 60s he used to go for a kick about at his local park, and Roy Vernon and a guy called Mickey Lill (cant remember the others) used to be down there just having a kick about, chain smoking fags. So they would end up playing footy most of the night with them!! He said this Mickey Lill was some player, but looking at his stats didnt seem to have too long at Goodison.

If you could dig them out, @Joey66 will have them off you mate ?

Make sure you have a lawyer present at the handover though, as he‘ll more than likely try and swap you some of his dried out, special tomato plants, that he grows for them.

….not sure if you’re on Facebook but there are plenty of groups chatting and posting old pictures of various parts of Liverpool.

There is one called ‘Heyworth St, Everton and surrounding area’. There’s plenty on there with folk reminiscing about St Domingo etc.

There was a piece, I'm sure someone on here would know it, done as a dissertation I think, about the political landscape around Everton at the time 'they' came into being. It highlighted the conservative party involvement and the abstinence movement.
There was a great deal of social landscaping in that piece.
I'll see if I can trace it.
I'm from St Domingo road myself so found it fascinating.

Cheers, I will check it out. I don't really know the area too well - especially as half of it seems to have disappeared from the census records I have!!

I think it's this
Cheers for that, some bedtime reading methinks!

Former footbal Echo sports editor Ken Rogers has looked into the area of Everton & our historical beginnings - plus he has a great book out called Two Tribes about the whole area around Goodison, & the people from the area historically - a great read - my father-in-law was a cousin to him same grandparents - Ken is a great Evertonian..,..
