My uncle was on Chelsea's books prior to the war but whilst he survived was unable to play properly again. I remember in the late 60s ( he would have been 50 or so then ) going down the park for a kick about with him. He couldn't move but boy what a left foot he had. He could ping a ball and his crossing was incredible. All the local lads were in awe.
Mrs Js dad was on the books at Everton but sadly never made a first team appearance.
