Absolute DIY virgin until 12 months ago, have nearly fully renovated my house and learned everything as I went, and never used a stud finder and I'm still alive (dead inside). Don't be a beta male as some of the edgelords in thee CA forum call it.
Tablet or phone with Youtube tutorial propped up on a nearby shelf / ladder / engine bay has saved me a few quid.

I don’t even think I made this thread. No recollection of making it but I have ordered one of them wire finder things from amazon at 3am ffs

If it`s any consolation, one of my mates bought a Baby Grand Piano off Ebay, after two bottles of wine one night and it was only when he woke up in the morning that he looked at the description and realised it was collect only and it was on the second floor of one of those Georgian houses by the Cathedral in town

You dont need a wire finder just a stud finder.

Best advice I was given was screw a piece of MDF to the wall first. Then attach your tv to that. Then you don’t need to worry as much about the studs being exactly where you need them.

MDF to studs, tv bracket to MDF. Pice of cake. Oh and get a spirit level. Doddle.
