Unsure of your logic here mate, how have female fans been let down if it's not true? If it's not true then there is no head locker from whom our female fans need to be protected from. If it's not true, then we've all been let down.

Have you ever considered the possibility that there may well be men who attend Goodison who have the capability to commit violent acts before? Hooligans, domestic abusers, rapists, paedophiles....all of these types of scum even once convicted and released can move pretty much freely around society. They can sit next to our daughters on the bus, they can stand in the queue next to our Mrs's at ASDA, and they can buy a ticket and attend Goodison. Do Police investigations and the criminal justice system give people confidence that wider society is a completely safe space? And how does all of that then fit in with any idea of the club being able to safeguard people comprehensively?
I don’t want to speak for the bloke mate but the club have weaponised an incident , to be clear I don’t believe she was ‘headlocked’ as was leaked . The board however have briefed that story to the media and claimed the alleged offender was advised . If they’re sticking to their story then clearly they need to explain how they’re ensuring a safe environment for fans , specifically female fans , given the circumstances they’ve claimed . If it’s not true then obviously they’re liars

I pretty much agree mate, but by going along with this story and fighting their BS with our BS by "demanding clarity" on some phoney compromised level of female safety when we have no credible reason to believe there is one just isn't the way forward.

My take - They knew the headlock was BS. We know that they knew it was BS, and they know that we know that they knew it was BS.....If we just leave it at that then we as fans all look like the more mature party in all of this.

I dont doubt that if you have tens of thousands of men in a space, unfortunately a section will be domestic abusive.

If the club have witnessed an assault on a female, they have a responsibility to tell the authorities, as that male should not be back at the ground.

Emily Bishop is livid at the way her lad is being given down the banks by Evertonians. Gordon Clegg would never headlock DBB not when he can romp with Bet Lynch.

This is where the moralistic side of that gender based argument breaks down. Sexual assault aside, and in the eyes of the law, an assault on a person, is an assault on a person. Indeed, women are generally somewhat more vulnerable, however there are many vulnerable men who can be and are victims of assault….Elderly men, physically disabled men, mentally disabled men, men who are alone when faced with an attacking group….

Do you think it falls within the remit of a football club to involve police automatically, whenever an interaction happens between people where a belief may be held by anyone witnessing it that an assault could possibly have taken place? Given that the police in almost all cases rely on statements from victims in order to progress those investigations, would it not be more sensible to empower the victim to decide whether or not they wish for the matter to be raised with “authorities”?

Yes did they jump on the bandwagon or were they forced on?

No wanted to make a quick bit of money by slating the fans.

Live by the sword die by the sword.

They need to retract their media pieces or be held to account

Paddy wrote the article for Athletic.
He is a regular contributor to the Blue Room.

Blue room hosts etc have all been defending him all day.

Think they should remember what side of the argument to be on when this is all a distant memory.
