They cannot support the rights given to all the other 42 clubs that will enable them to survive because it takes some tv money off them. Boo hoo hoo.

My Spanish side, Málaga, have been in financial crisis for 3-4 years now. We've got the lowest budget in the Segunda, and this money has basically saved the club.

English football drives me mental, with the "big 6", but Spanish football is just so crooked, Real and Barca literally just want all of the money. They'd be happy for Spanish football to be destroyed if it meant more money. Embarrassing.

It's probably been said already, but, how is it even close to being fair that Chelsea, Utd and City are all spending 100s of millions whilst teams like us haven't got a pot to piss in, due to FFP.

All 3 of them teams were ready to ditch the Premier League a few months ago, yet the league financial rules are giving them the advantage which moving to the ESL would have anyway. The game is on it's arse.

No fines against any of the rats from UEFA and no court action against the remaining 3

Great stuff
But those geese lay golden eggs!

Regardless that there's thousands of other clubs that would fill the void.

Look at Barcelona, a complete basket case financially. In any non-sporting industry they'd be wound up and forgotten about apart from the history books.

I wish that they'd gone ahead and formed the Scab League. Been turfed out of UEFA and the national competitions. Let them have their WWF of football and leave the rest of us with the semblance of fair competition until the next wave of Scab clubs are generated.

But they will only do it if they can stay in their National leagues because they want the TV revenue from those as well. There are only 2 situations. 1 is the status quo, and the 2nd is a disaster for everyone except the teams that form the new European league. They will kill football as far as I'm concerned if this happens.

All I keep seeing is fans of these teams pushing...

"The English Clubs couldn't leave or they'd get fines, and that's why the ESL won't happen"... but the small print is obviously they get a fine "IF they get try it again and return", so basically they've rolled over and accommodated the sheer greed and hoped every other, decent, honest club would forget... but clearly they have, as UEFA aren't bothered, the Premier League isn't either.

So the next time it happens, they'll make sure they have all the legalities in place, the structure that they never return.

Where's Gary Neville now?

Can somebody clarify something for me?
The breakaway ESL was supposed to be an alternative to the Champions League wasn't it? Or were all the clubs going to be leaving their domestic leagues and playing in an ESL plus the Champions League?

They were intending to play in their domestic leagues and the ESL, but there would have been no automatic qualification for the ESL (or relegation from it for those clubs) for domestic league placement, so it would have made domestic leagues into reserve competitions (which probably is the intention, as they’d compete with the ESL otherwise).

It will resurface in a few months and the American owned clubs will again be at the forefront of it all. They want a league like the NFL, a closed league with tight salary caps so no one gets relegated and everyone makes a profit without risk. Liverpool and the rags owners are behind it all. It's always amazed me that a country built on and proud of it's capitalism. A country so afraid of socialism that morons like Trump get elected. A country that supposedly defines democracy and the free market. Yet they embrace communism in sport like it's the most natural thing in the world.
