English Premier League club Everton agreed a deal on 4 July 2010 that gave them first option to sign Abdullayev over the next two years if a work permit could be attained. On 21 September, it was announced that he will start on an initial three-year contract, with the option for two more seasons, when the transfer window opens in January 2011. On 7 January 2011, it was announced that Everton signed long-term contract with Abdullayev subject to him being granted a work permit, even though the length of contract is not revealed and allowed him to play for the Neftchi until Azerbaijan Premier League's end. He returned to Everton for their 2011-12 Premier League campaign and featured in Everton Reserves first friendly of the season against Freiburg in the Lev Yashin tournament.

Right, have yourselves an Araz Abdullayev update. He's joining Greek side Panionios on loan until the end of the season.

From the Neftchi Baku website (27th December): "PFC Neftchi’s player Araz Abdullayev will play for Greece club Panionios on loan. According to the consent of FC Everton and PFC Neftchi the loan contract has been signed with Greece club Panionos today. According to the contract Araz Abdullayev will play for Panionios till the end of the season."

Could help work permit issues...

Love it. *humps turf*

If Billy had played 25 games for Russia and could nt adapt to the Premier League - then how is this guy going to have a chance? Do we learn nothing from past failings?

What's the amount of games played for his country got to do with it. It's more to do with the type of player and type of character.
