Why? 3 at the back, 2 wing backs,Bily played in his proper position and Ossie playing where he has been successful for us. Whats wrong with that?

Bilys proper position is in a midfield 3 with no width? Interesting.

But yeah, I hate these 3 cbs defence that kick the wing backs up into midfield where they can be marked more easily. I think it will kill our creativity in the same way that playing one of our three cbs alongside Fellaini does.

And I don't understand why now we've finally got the width and pace we've been crying out for years you would play a midfield with none of it.

Kill our creativity?!?! Are you having a laugh? What creativity have we had in the last few years? Exactly, none with Moyes tactics. With 3 at the back it gives our two most effective players of last season more chance to get forward. Whats your team? so far you have shown a picture of Ossie(slow) and said you dont like Gueye(pacey). Yet you said i was keeping pace out of the side! By the way, we have had pace in the side for years now, AJ, Saha, Beckford, Radzinski, Bent. But guess what, a lack of creativity gave them f@ck all opportunities. But hey, lets keep doing the same thing.

Moyes team is often, though not always, uncreative because he insists on packing central midfield with players with limited passing range like neville or heitinga. When we play attacking football and we have played some wonderful attacking football on our day (3-1 against Man U, 2-1 against chelsea, 7-1 and 4-0 thrashings of cannon fodder, the destructions of villa and fiorentina in cup games etc.) it's because our midfield, which has got pretty good at holding onto the ball, is looking to get forward and not doing the heitinga-neville slow side pass thing.

This is your team:

Howard
Johnny Jags Distin
Coleman Bainsey
Barkley Fella Bily
Ossie
Saha

1: You're using three central defenders and a defensive midfielder. That's a classic Moyes mistake all over. You've crowbarred Heitinga in to the squad to give us more defensive cover at the expense of having creative players in the centre of the park. There's no practical difference from Moyes stupid habit of playing Heitinga or Nev in midfield. Expect lots of pointless passing among the centre of the park and then back to Jags and Distin to hoof into row z.

2. You're doing the same thing which Moyes does, in that you'd rather use good players in the wrong positions then untested players in their natural positions. In this case, you've decided that since Baines and Coleman are great attacking players they should play as wingers, ignoring that Coleman struggled in that position at times last year because fullbacks rely on moving on the overlap, with no players in front of him so neither Coleman nor Baines will be half as effective because they can be picked up and marked a lot easier by the defenders who only have the one player to worry about. You also think the extra man in the back 3 is enough to keep the opposition quiet on the flanks so our wingbacks can occupy entirely high up the pitch but it isn't. A back 3 needs to be fast (we're a very slow team) and play a deep line and even then it works best against 4-4-2, a team playing with advanced fast wide players would either tear it apart or force our wingbacks back to help out. And if they do that often, when they're the only wide players and pace in the side you've lost any advantage of forcing them higher to begin with and just making them cover more distance with less support.

3. So with Baines and Coleman provding the width by themselves you're playing a very narrow midfield of Barkley and Bily behind Osman and Saha. Now that might work, Saha has struggled as a lone striker with Cahill behind him but Osman should provide a much better link to the midfield and we certainly should dominate the centre of the pitch given all our players are there. But I don't really see how it's any different from what Moyes tried last year which didn't work because we had lots of pretty possession in the middle but no width and only the one striker to mark, so no way to get behind defences. Only instead of Arteta and players who actually are good at posession you're playing Bily.

My own choice would be

------Howard
Coleman Distin Jagielka Baines
-----Fellaini - Rodwell
Barkley Osman Drenthe
Vellios/Denis

I think Rodwell is a better choice than Jonny because he's actually comfortable on the ball and in looking forward and is less tempted to hang back at all times. I think Coleman and Baines are good enough defenders to remain as right backs and that we're much effective when we have two players capable of attacking each flank and so Drenthe has to be in the side to give us some pace in midfield. And I think rather than play Saha as a lone striker, where he struggled so much last year, we should play one of our tough, tall, good in the airs bullies who'd be better at both holding up the ball for Osman and Barkley to run onto and attacking the crosse our left side can throw in to the box.

Just personal opinion though, you're free to disagree.
