Afraid to break it to you, but your card is definitely marked mate.Depends who you are saying it to and the context.
For example, if I was having an argument with my red headed friend and said 'you Ginger t***' then yes it is offensive. Years ago, when he told me his wife was pregnant, I congratulated him and then said 'You do know they will be Ginger don't you?', that wasn't offensive as it was a joke I knew he could take.
