For me I have no issue with banter but I do think there has become a culture these days for people to go too far. You see famous comedians saying jokes which are unacceptable and offensive and will get laughs from ignorant people.

Those people are then influenced by that and you see this kind of banter then in WhatsApp groups or the like. I think that culture is something I don't like to see. Where people do say racist or homophobic stuff just to get laughs or kicks from other friends or a crowd but at the expense of others.

It's all about knowing the level where it is acceptable and funny and when it's not and it actually offends someone quite badly.

Depends who you are saying it to and the context.

For example, if I was having an argument with my red headed friend and said 'you Ginger t***' then yes it is offensive. Years ago, when he told me his wife was pregnant, I congratulated him and then said 'You do know they will be Ginger don't you?', that wasn't offensive as it was a joke I knew he could take.
