A question for those who understand this process better than me. If we do have to pay out compensation, will these extra costs be excluded from the profit and sustainability calculations covering the current period? If not, we would have to try and find profits on players to cover any compensation paid just to stand still - which would probably be impossible.
Presumably yes, can't see why those costs would be excluded from any calculation of our operating profit / losses.
Having said that it seems incredibly unlikely that we'll have to pay compensation to other clubs. The issue those clubs have is that the rules weren't enforced quickly enough for them to avoid relegation (i.e why did the PL not do a points deduction last season). It's not Everton's responsibility to enforce the PL's rules, so the clubs should be suing the PL not us.

If I could lay my hands on the FWA handbook, I could look Matt Hughes up and see if he's there. Then there's two options if he is...
1. I could spread his number like herpes everywhere on this board, but I believe that would achieve nothing.
2. I could send an anonymous complaint in writing, saying he is bringing the FWA into disrepute and ask him to be ejected.
