again what on earth does RM see in him?
Firstly, he is 'his' player and performed well for him well at Wigan so I think he may believe that he can rely on him; or Kone owes him something.

More worryingly, I am sure Martinez has mentioned in the past that he (Kone) deserves 'a chance' at the club after his horrific injury.

If his consistent selection is more a mixture sympathy for an injured player with a stubbornness that he must succeed, then it's worrying.

Even people like myself, who were willing to give him a chance, are now running out of patience. He's clearly just not good enough.

Who comes first player or club?

While loyalty is important to a point, in situations such as this then it should clearly be the club. However it doesn't always work like that.

He's had his chance; now it's time to act and replace him. Martinez appears somewhat stubborn though in his views...

Is Kone failing too much of a sign that he has failed in the market? I hope I'm wrong, but his reluctance to strengthen here is worrying.

all very well saying sell him, not good enough, draining our wages etc. but other teams aren't exactly going to be cueing up for him. we need a new striker as it is, that would mean 2 strikers as well as the other gaping holes in the squad to be addressed. if our chairman isn't going to give the manager enough money he can't go out and fix every single hole.

his injury's ruined him it seems. was a handy striker before.

If Martinez is being loyal to Kone there is something to be admired in that. That is a good quality. However is keeping him on at a club were he is clearly struggling the best thing for him. Maybe it is time for a serious talk, would Kone not be better at a lesser club, maybe in a European League. Everton have fulfilled any commitments they have to Kone. It is time to do what is best for both parties and move him on. Then we need to buy a replacement, I would go for a young player who offers a different approach to Lukaku, how often has we called for a Plan B in games. A different type of forward could shake up defences, give them a different set of problems from Lukaku. We need the midfielder who can make either forward tick.

Have to say I disagree, could have given MCaleny a start rather than that old has been.
Well you have to at least give him a chance to prove himself, even as 3rd choice, against lower league opposition.
Plus I expect this is Kone being put on the "shopping window", or however that one goes...

Either way Kone is stealing a living here ffs.
