Arsenal: £10m for Arteta

Selling Arteta would be egg all over the faces of Kenwright and Moyes, making them look like a right pair of arses. They both harp on about bridging the gap to the "big 4" and selling players with the ability and class of arteta is a massive step back and will just go to show that we can't compete with them ........

the last couple of seasons moyes has had roughly 10m~20m to spend on the squad each season, without having to sell his better players. I'd be happy with two more quality additions this summer and to continue building a squad that will eventually compete at the next level (y)

Dont really want to start a new topic but i heard a true rumour today form a person inside Goodison, apparently Artetas transfer is already a done deal, and that is why he had the surgery in the season so he is fit to have a medical...and apparently its an english club...

...Dont shoot the messenger but thats what i heard, and he's fairly certain about it.

Nice footballer Arteta, but he lacks what all truly top players have - pace. Take the £10M and invest it in a winger who moves like [Poor language removed] off a shovel.

I think £15million is a fair evaluation for Arteta, therefore as we shouldnt want to sell they would have to stump up a lot more to make it worth it. Arsenal wont do that, cause they rarely spend big on one player. He signed a 5year deal last summer so he's going nowhere. Having said all that, I know you shouldnt believe the press, but everytime i see a story about how, one day he'd love to play for athletico madrid, it makes me think feckin go then you ****! I still like him though as a player

Well Chicos got Yobo Madrid bound for a cool 10million. Arsene wants Arteta for another cool 10 million per Doms buddy which equals 20 million. Isn't that what BK will promise Moysey in the summer well........... there it is all in black and white. Not so hard when you work it all out.:D

I don't think Moyes likes the out and out winger system. He's had many options to go out and buy a natural winger but always prefers to buy attacking central players and move them out wide. Pienaar, Arteta and Osman prove this.

Wenger uses the system at Arsenal. Hleb and Rosicky out wide with the fullbacks providing the width. If where going to do a similar thing we need a pacy right back to support Arteta whilst Baines supports Pienaar down the left.

Not all top players have pace. Technical ability and footballing ability is alot better in my opinion than raw pace. We could get someone like SWP or Lennon who have all the pace in the world but lack the trickiness and skill of Arteta.

No way should we even consider selling Mikel for 10 million. Daylight robbery in my opinion. We could easily get 12-15 million of one of the Spanish clubs.

Moyes bought AVM to play that out and out winger role so I dont think he's pathologically against wide players. We're crying out for a player that can carry the ball from our half and turn defence into attack without lumping it. The players there at the moment can't do that.

Lescott and Baines on the left - one dropping off and the other going makes sense, also.

personally i think arteta is just slightly over rated.

dont get me wrong , i think he's class and wouldnt want to lose him.
but the thing with arteta is that he has the skill and work ethic but there isnt much of an end product.

for someone who takes the majority of our corners and free kicks , his assists and goals tally isnt that brilliant.

with the ball at his feet he is as good as anyone in the prem.dead ball though and shooting ? well its hit and miss really .

currently id say his value is 12-16 million.
if he can start to have more of an end product then your talking about a £30 million + player.

Arteta is our best dribbler though. He's our only player who runs with the ball and actually goes at people. Fernandes, Osman and Pienaar don't do that. Surely we want to keep our best player at moving with the ball.

I always thought Van der Meyde was a cultured wide man more than anything. He wasn't a byline hitter at Ajax and he certainly never showed natural pace or width hear.

He had excellent technique but he did have a tendency to just get a yard and whip it in early. Maybe he'd lost a yard of pace due to injuries and lack of fitness and was trying to change his game.

Your all mostly mad, wouldn't want to lose Arteta at all and the more it is discussed the more likely it is to happen. I hope Mikel doesnt read these threads.

I'd agree with that. Marcus Bent was fast as anybody, but the fact he couldn't shoot to save his life.......
