Arsenal exodus

I hope that they won't be fine, hopefully somebody will be able to push them off Champions League spots, In perfect world it would be us, but I would happy even if Villa or M.City do it.

To be honest I don't think they would suffer that much if they signed the players I mentioned above. So long as Wenger actually spends some of the Fabregas money on class players, then it will stop all their best players leaving. As long as RVP stays, he will become their new talisman and someone like Gourcuff the 'number two'. The only way they could possibly fade away is if Fabregas left and they signed a load of 17 year olds again, then RVP, Arshavin and Nasri would probably leave and they'd be ****ed, but I can't see that happening.

I think that it's actually their plan to develop players to sell on until the stadium is paid for. If that is the case, then you'd expect next season to be an opportunity for Van Persie to prove to Europe's biggest clubs that he's over his injury problems. Arshavin has made no secret of the fact that he sees Arsenal as a stepping stone. Wenger has done fantastically to scout and bring players through whilst still competing at the level they have been doing. I think that the tactic will catch up with them though, as they sell more quickly than they're able to replace.

Arsenal need to raise £24m in transfers each season for the next 17 years to cover the debt on their stadium!

You'd think that it would make more sense to sell £48m worth of talent biannually to give themselves a couple of years to develop the next wave of talent. What are their current assets after Fabregas? Van Persie, Bendtner, Arshavin, Rosicky, Nasri, Diaby, Walcott and Vermaelen. I guess that might buy them about 5 years grace.

I think they made 60M in profit last year though. They have alot of debt but are in reasonably good shape. Plus they stick to a strict pay scale. There's no crap players like Riise making 80K/week. Cesc isn't going anywhere especially for the joke transfer fee that Barca is offering for him. BTW: They are using the same dirty tactics that City did during the Lescott affair however its OK, because Barca is everything that's good about footie. His act after Arteta's "vicious" elbow showed that he has the right stuff to be a fan favorite there.

They had 3rd biggest wage spending in Premierleague, closely behind MU. Maybe now Manchester City push them off to 4th place, but still - Arsenal has high wages, maybe they don't have too many players on 80k, but probably are paying way too much for their future WC juniors.

Actually all Arsenal needs is a good keeper. If they had someone like Reina or Gomes they would have won the prem last season. Just look at Spurs. 2 years ago bad goal keeping = mid table This year great goal keeping = 4th place.

I don't think it's quite that simple. The season before last people were calling for Almunia to be given an England callup. Sagna looks like a reasonable player when he has good players around him. I wouldn't say he's anything special though. I do like Vermaelen. Wenger will need to make a signing to partner him though, as Campbell, Gallas, Silvestre and Senderos have all been released. I don't rate Clichy at all.
