The positive thing is that we will have the ball very little today. Other than that, it's hard to find any bright spots to cling to. I think we need a big dose of luck to get something out of the game. In addition, we have to play on the percentages, constantly slowing down the pace of the match.

Then I agree with some that Gray can be important in this type of match. We need someone to stretch Arsenal vertically, so that there are not constantly new waves of attack.

It will then be important to close off half-spaces, and lead them out into the side corridors. Force them to hit crosses from there. We should dominate in the air. Then we also know that one goal is enough to kill the game for Arsenal. Then the match is over.

Remember, Toffees, history does not predict the future.

Excelsior.

For what it's worth, Arsenal fans really dont like Maupay. More: https://www.90min.com/posts/neal-maupay-history-with-arsenal-explained

Here's him scoring the winner at the Emirates;

Here's him scoring another late winner vs Arsenal;

In both those clips, you'll note the number of attacking players - even last minute vs Arsenal. That doesn't happen with us.

But yeah - "IF HE STARTS DAT MAUPAY AN NOT SIMMS OR GRAY LAD I'M DONE WITH DYCHE"

Behave.

I still don't mind Maupay that much....*heads for the hills.....

Nah in all seriousness he isn't at all what we need atm but he isn't as bad as some people make out. If we are going to have any chance of surviving then we need him or simms to somehow score4/5 goals before the season's out.

I thought he did ok v leeds and even last week was a part of a team that created more than enough in the first half especially to win the game...like anything with us it's fine lines atm - and if that gilt edged chance he had second half goes it's a different conversation.

Iwobi and Mcneill have proved already you can't just write players off - he isn't a lone striker, he is a hard working pest that can be a useful asset for competent teams - unfortunately though he is what we have atm and need to get the best out of him somehow.

If we start Simms the fans will call him useless.
