Arsene Wenger

His league titles dried up around the same time as they moved into the emirates. Which as we know meant 10 years of the purse strings being tightened to pay for the stadium . And all kroenke cared about was champions league qualification which he got every year during that time with a few FA cups thrown in . Also this happened while they downgraded on players when Henry , bergkamp , pires and Campbell left they were replaced with poorer options by a board who weren’t arsed about winning titles

Some of his signings though early on
Veiera £3.5m
Anelka £500 grand
toure £250 grand
Ljungberg £3.5m
Henry £11m and converting him from a winger to a striker .

Fabregas for buttons

Campbell on a Bosman was the best trolling of the enemy signing in history after figo to Madrid

The one thing I will say is his success had solid foundations built on George Graham’s defence and goalie in seaman.

The 97/98 team was possibly my 3rd favourite English team I’ve seen after Utd ‘s treble team in 99 and the 93/94 cantona team .

Though I should have Arsenal’s invincibles up there I prefer the other 3 sides

The midfield of overmars vieira petit and parlour was a machine .

I think the problem was that Wenger became obsessed with yoots, hes declared that its his dream for Arsenal to field a team that came from the yoot teams.

i think he's going to leave arsenal in a pretty bad position tbh. Well bad compared to where they were 10 years ago obviously, not bad compared to leyton orient.

I'm really looking forward to their demise next season with no sanchez and no ozil, we need to be able to capitalise on that. Have a good summer of dealings and then finish above them, that should be the aim. I can't see them attracting too many top players to cover the mess they'll be in with their best two players gone.

we may need to realise you have to score goals in football before we start thinking about overtaking arsenal

well, i wrote that before that first half ha if allardyce is given the season i don't think that'd be possible. I hope that when we get a new striker he starts a winger with end product as well as rooney from deep, otherwise we won't score anything.

I like him. A lot.

He was the most decent thing to happen to British football for a hundred years.

His Arsenal team was brilliant. If only we could be that good.
I never got why Arsenal fans hate him so much. He's won them loads of trophies, they're in Europe every season, they even had that one season under him, they've had the likes of Henry and Sanchez and Čech and Bergkamp playing for them...and yet loads of them want him out? We've not won anything since 1995, I WISH we had someone like Wenger. And he's managed Arsenal since I was in high school. That's quite an achievement for an EPL manager who isn't Alex Ferguson.

Once you start winning though and cannot maintain that level, it is what happens. And that's no critisism of Everton by the way, just a general observation! It's the same for most of us!

Fans become entiltled and do not take into account the many factors in play. Of course in the premier league one huge factor is having 2 clubs in Manchester City and Chelsea, one owned by an oil rich country and the other by some dodgy Russian oligarch, as well as Manchester united and their massive sponsorships and backing and ability to outspend most teams. The majority of other teams, cannot compete with that but fans of some teams expect their team to compete with that because of past successes, Arsenal being one.

I sort of understand some of their frustration because Wenger does seem very stubborn in some aspects, and has failed to adapt over the more recent years. But I do still admire him greatly.

Because they moved from a 38k stadium to a 60k stadium back in 2006,instantly attracting new age "fans" who hang on the likes of Piers Morgans every word, basically they are like spoilt kids, when I heard Morgan actually moaning that they had won the FA Cup three years on the spin,I gave uplol

Even other gooners hate Morgan. He is a Grade A weapon. One time Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was reading tweets about him and he showed Morgan up for the two-faced tit that he is, since one tweet had Morgan slating him and the other saying he'd always rated him.

And a certain other team whose name begins with 'Liver' and ends in 'pool'.

They have a real sense of entitlement based primarily on Wenger's halcyon years, but also obviously their historical successes over the years.

What they ignore however, is that although they have a strong squad, which often has periods where it under performs, it's not the best squad.

Nor has it been since Wenger's halcyon days because quite simply their owners first focused on their debt before now looking at probability.

There's been so many opportunities where if they'd spent wisely they could have challenged further, but instead they looked at an alternative.

Be it their rivals Chelsea, Manure, Manchester City and even to a growing extent Spurs, their squad has consistently been below all the above.

Wenger they believe is complicit in that hence large swathes of displeasure that he's still there; all the sensible points you made are disregarded.

In a way I actually sort of understand their displeasure as real success hasn't been too far away, but Gooners are weapons so I'm glad of it all.
