I reckon 13m will get Williams, and that's a good fee for their club captain and a rock of a centre back who'll give us three years of service easily. If 13m is the new 5m, what'll it be in 3 years time.. the new 2.5m? 13m is nothing... McCormack has just gone for 12m in the league below us! Get him signed.

Not seen any comparisons with Maldini myself but I agree to an extent. I've got no problem with us buying someone like Williams if it frees up extra funds for one or two bigger signings. Not saying we should sign loads of players regardless of their age, though.

Sure I was just exaggerating there, well at least some may think we are getting a top defender. I think he is a good enough stop gap but just not for long terms.

He is a top defender. There's literally zero metric by which he would not be considered a top defender in this country. Just because he doesn't have some massive Instagram following and special Ultimate Team card doesn't mean he isn't absolutely right for us.

We got loads of years out of Distin who signed at much the same age. Not every player that joins us MUST be sold on for profit. He's not a stop gap, he's at least as good as Mori and Jagielka which would suggest he is straight in at first team level.

What's so complicated about this?
