Would consider it the safe signing. If Man City are not budging on their offer, it might mean we can't go balls deep in the transfer market. Williams for 10m is a signing you'd expect from a non Moshiri Everton. Think his distribution is decent and definitely prepared to put his body in the way, no nonsense when it needs it, strong in the air and a leader of his current club and his nation. If Stones does go, I would see another CB coming in as well as Williams.

Interesting that we are seemingly talking to Chelsea about Lukaku. Reading between the lines, it seems we want approximately 45m to be able to increase the wage bill, whether that be Stones or Lukaku.

He's exactly what we need now. Solid, dependable, a true leader and a quality defender.

Add Williams and a quality keeper to that side and you've probably saved about a dozen points based on last seasons showing.

Get him in and get him in soon, right now we are all still hoping for these big name quality signings to arrive, but the longer it goes the more we are facing the real possibility of starting Mori and Holgate against Spurs with no sign that this couldn't end up becoming the only real choice for a large part of the season.

need to start adding players from the second 'tier' of ourt chocies as right now we are going into a season with a squad that doesn't look fit to purpose.

Get in Gueye, get in Williams and at least we will start to have a little bit of fresh blood and competition int he team

Need badly to ship out the dead wood as well, dunno how having players who are clearly not good enough and everyone knows they arent - in the squad is going to do anything but drag expectations and morale down in the 'better' players, at the very leats it would be a clearsign that all the talk about incomings isn't just talk but we are making the room in the squad for them by getting rid of sub standard players

Can't for the life of me imagine that Williams will be brought in as the Stones replacement. Guess it's just a good deal in Koeman's opinion. Proven no nonsense Premiership defender with bags of experience. Don't mind this signing at all.

If by September we've lost Stones and only brought in Williams in that area, I may review that stance
