He is no doubt one of the best central defenders in the League at defending and showing leadership. He is no Hummels but we are not going to play possesion football anymore anyway.

Everton have sadly become a soft team under Martinez... Koeman no doubt a bit worried about what he has seen so far in training and pre season games... Williams might only play 3 more years and the yearly cost might be 7m with wages but he will have an important role in getting back the old Everton DNA

So far 2 solid signings.. If we keep the rest of the team as it is we will be better than last season

I have a good feeling about this one.

Proper defender, top flight experience, international captain. He is also that thing we all love a (comparative) bargain, relatively speaking. This bodes well, I feel.

Even his introductory video was a mickey-take. I hope the snide is strong in this one.

That's a massive slap in the face for Jagielka. No leadership here, he's had to import it in. Hopefully he'll be up the road soon anyway.

You might be right but we had quite a few good players... on their day Gough, Weir, Lescott, Materazzi, Jags, Yobo etc were quality players

Fantastic signing. We have 2 top seasons out of him before he starts to slow down with age. Cracking bit of business at 9 million. Can't believe Wenger didn't go for him either
