I doubt either have taken a pay cut.I expect that he , like Coleman, has taken a pay cut to extend his contract.
There won't be that many opportunities for him to play premiership football at his age.

I think both may have and that would explain why getting these contracts signed is taking longer , at least I hope they have.I doubt either have taken a pay cut.
And we are?I think both may have and that would explain why getting these contracts signed is taking longer , at least I hope they have.
Neither player is in the strongest bargaining position.
And we are?
We are offering a 38 year old and a 35 year old a new contract, that doesnt scream position of power to me.
Anyway, neither will be on huge money and it does honestly look like both help off and on the pitch, so it will probably be money well spent.
Have you seen him play?We have to make sure we keep Ashley Young at the club; you can't put a price on experience, so come on Everton don't let this opportunity slip away.

Line cast. Fish caught.Have you seen him play?
Experience or not, he was at fault for a lot of goals last season

No news is good news for me on this one. Coleman’s was wrapped up pretty quickly so the fact this one is dragging on is definitely cause of optimism that things haven’t gone smoothly.
I keep thinking if we don't post any updates on it, Thelwell (who I reckon is on here and gets his transfer targets from here) he'll forget to offer Ashley a new deal and we can pretend it was all just a bad dream.
He might be having a bit of a midlife crisis moment and thinking he’s still good enough to play for a top club again, could be holding out for a Champions League club to make him an offer.
