wtf went on with your lot last night then? Looked like 1970 Brazil versus Albania
Haha I asked for that . I was happy with the team selection but yet again fringe players and the regulars letting us down. I thought that first goal would be crucial and it was. We score you fold , you score you make life hard for us which you did brilliantly I might add. If I was an Everton fan I’d have been proud of that performance. We were too slow , too weak on the ball and a general lack of ideas . You wanted it more . We really are not playing well this season, and with the injuries we’ve had it’s going to be a long hard season with the extra games. We’ll finish top half no doubt , but I think one of the cups is there for the taking and I’d sacrifice a couple of places lower in the prem to lift one. Chance gone in the league cup now.

Second game on the trot we had multiple contenders only one was a truly 9/10 Mr James Garner what a masterclass in midfield domination that was with Amadou Onana, pressed at the right times ,panicked villa in defence and a terrific goal to cap a wonderful display off ,tip of the cap mr Thelwell this is 9m extremely well spent

Linesman was picking his nose when Beto made the run…
My daughter's team this last weekend went 2-0 down when the AR missed a clear offside because she was hugging a small child. No var in that game either.

Speaking as a referee, it was so hard to form the new muscle memory to hold the flag down until the offside player playes the ball, to then go on and have 2 different rules for VAR games vs non-VAR games adds an additional degree of difficulty.

It could be seen that Dyche was playing to not lose by going for 3 CBs and Keane for heavens sake, their goal was his own goal.

However the team played very well and that win should inspire more confidence for the games coming up.
The shape might suggest that but the way we played was anything but. Great pressing. Winning the ball high up the pitch.Line breaking passes from Garner, speed wide from McNeil, Beto and Dom excelling as hold up men, winning headers and flick ons, Onana doing ima little of everything. Myko even positive on the overlaps, first time ever he was a solid attacking presence. Pace and strength and a little malice.

Maybe Villa had the more attacking shape but they were the ones with the ponderous buildup and the horizontal crab passes, like the heydays of Schneiderlin and Sigurdsson passing to each other 10x in a row. They looked bored but I think they were dispirited at getting barged over, run past, and pickpocketed.
