Attendances weren't always announced correctly. They seemed to have trouble counting all the ticket sales for some reason

Cash at the turnstile. Lids letting two through.
Club keeping money off the books etc..
loads of factors.
I've been to goodison when it was utter rammed ( terracing ) and still official attendence was well short of capacity.
