Spent 6 months there 15 years ago and hated the place. The people were rude & racist, they were at least 30 years behind the modern world and their drinking laws were ridiculous. It was a while ago but even today, if I meet a nice Aussie, I find they're actually Kiwi's.

Despite how many years I've been in NZ I still have a lot of my English accent. If a kiwi tries to take the pee out of me for it I just remind them that at least when I travel abroad I don't get confused as being an Australian. For a Kiwi there is no coming back from that.

IMO Australia is racist, NZ is xenophobic. Both countries have heaps of great people.

I've lived in Cairns for 13yrs now, originally from Liverpool. I still find the Aussie culture a bit behind the times. Still quite misogynistic, especially in the hospo game.

However, with regards to 'the voice' vote. It's widely accepted that it would only be useful to metro areas, and was reported that most indigenous up here in FNQ wanted no part of it. It would solve NOTHING.

Politics aside, lots of great Aussie mates! Plenty of dickheads too!

I'm not sure that's correct.
